The amazing iPhone

my-wed-appThe amazing iPhone…again!
We have been raving about the iPhone around the office and in our blogs of late so I have to start by stating that we are definitely not on the Apple payroll (although if you are reading this Apple…we will gratefully accept all endorsement offers and if not cash, Jimmy Choo’s always work).

So what is the latest in iPhone Apps that has the team here at eventexperts.com.au so excited?  Drum-roll please because this is big news….finally something for the Wedding Planners amongst us;  ‘Wedding Apps’.  Yes you heard me right, iPhone applications dedicated to wedding planning.

So enough of the fanfare let’s look at the details.  Wedding Apps are currently being marketed towards the bride-to-be who needs (wants) her information fast.  Today’s bride tends to be a very busy girl and she is often on the run, fitting in her planning amongst her career,  fiancé, professional development and of course the things all of us girls love, such as time for ourselves and self improvement (i.e. visits to the gym and beauty salon, shopping and lunch with girlfriends).  This is why she often turns to a planner…because she does not have the time to devote to pulling her dream day together.  So whilst the current round of ‘wedding planning apps’ are being directed towards brides, Wedding Planners will find them to be useful as well.

The most recently launched comes from Brides Magazine and is called the ‘Brides Dressing Room’.  Brett Gardner, the app’s designer says that this app; “…closes the loop between the boutiques and the brides”.  So what is ‘Brides Dressing Room’.  Simply put it an archive of hundreds of wedding and bridesmaid dresses which you can search for through criteria such as length, neckline and size.  The great thing about this app is that the user can send the image of the dress to friends.  So immediately I am thinking of the bride with bridesmaids who are not close by during the planning of the wedding.  Another great feature of this app is the practicality of it.  So not only can you search for the dress through the app, you can also use it to make appointments with local boutiques carrying the dress.
The Wedding Planner who is helping her bride with her gown selection will find this app to be an invaluable tool, especially for the busy bride who finds it hard to carve out time to do the legwork involved in finding the perfect gown for both herself and her attendants.

Here is a summary of some of the other apps:
iweddingiWedding
This is a digital planner that helps brides or Wedding Planners keep track of all the items on their to-do-list, from seating arrangements to vendor payments and ‘on the day’ timing.  Whilst a Wedding Planner tends to use more professional tools such as Wedding Wizard to keep track of event details, iWedding could be a great tool for the Wedding Planner to introduce to her bride, so that together they can establish a schedule and system for reminders for the bride’s list of tasks;  from fittings to her beauty schedule.
Wedding Day
Want to track the days, hours and minutes to the Wedding?  A planner could use this as a fun way of keeping the bride and groom up to date on just how long it is until their Wedding Day.  Weekly updates may be a nice way to start to build a relationship between you and the couple and in particular the bride is she is especially excited about the Wedding.
theknotWedding911
This one comes from the team at TheKnot  Wedding911 is a great source of information for brides on the go.  Need to know when to cut the cake or how to line up the Wedding Party, Wedding911 has the answers.  It even enables really ‘frazzled’ brides or planners to post their own urgent questions.
weather-bugWeatherBug
Brides may use this one but again I think this is a great tool for the planner who has many weddings to keep her eye on.  This free app offers more than your standard weather app.  Go to WeatherBug for all your weather information such as forecasts, humidity and radar maps.  This one is free too!
gotta-etsyGotta Etsy
Have you discovered Etsy.com? This is one of my favourite sites.  It is a creative online store where people from all over the world can sell their handmade treasures – and there are a ton of different wedding related items from custom letterpress invitations and save the date cards, to ring holders, and even veils and fascinators!  I think every Wedding Stylist should be visiting this store regularly for unique and engaging items for their brides.  If you have not dropped by yet, upload the Gotta Etsy app.
