“Celebrations” – Preston Bailey’s Book Launch

Preston Bailey has always inspired me. From the first time I read about him over 10 years ago I was impressed by his style and his amazing understand of what it takes to design a fabulous party or event. His impressive portfolio includes Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta Jones, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby to name but a few. If there is one blog that I strongly suggest you subscribe to it is Preston Bailey’s Inspiration Blog. He is the guru of our industry and for event design I don’t think there is anyone to better him.

I recently conducted a workshop in Melbourne and one of the subjects up for discussion was where we got our inspiration from. I asked the attendees to name which blogs they subscribed to for inspiration and I was shocked that only two people mentioned Preston Bailey. In fact, many of the attendees hadn’t even heard of him. My question then was how can you say you work in wedding styling and event design and not know who Preston Bailey is?

On the 28th of January 2010, Preston Bailey launched his 4th book called ‘Celebrations’. The party was held at Manhatten’s Amory and was the creation of a collaboration between Marcy Blum and Preston himself, and what a night it was. There were speciality Leblon Caipirinhas cocktails, pastries and cupcakes from Oliver Cheng and performances from Gloria Gaynor and Martha Wash.
