The Special Event Show

This week has seen the opening of the Special Event Show 2010 in New Orleans. This annual event is highly anticipated within our industry and is a great way to get back into the thick of things after the Xmas break. This year the Academy haven’t been able to attend the event due to being away in the UK setting up our new branch. However, we do have access to what is happening over there and will be incorporating what we learn into our courses over this year.

For those of you who don’t know what the Special Event Show is, it is a gathering of some of the industries best who fly in from all over the world to network, attend seminars and education sessions and learn about what is hot for the year ahead. The event has a dedicated section for weddings including the highly anticipated Wedding Lunch whose guest list reads like the ‘Who’s Who’ of the wedding industry.

The show started on Tuesday 12th of January with the Showcasing Event and ran through till Friday 15th of January finishing with the Gala Awards. During the 4 days attendees are given the opportunity to attend numerous education sessions, lunches, seminars,trade show and full study programs. The subjects covered include:

2. Design
3. Wedding Trends
4. Event Management
5. Sales and Marketing
6. Business & Professional Development

It is one of the biggest conferences and exhibitions for the Special Events Industry and if you ever get the chance to attend it will blow your mind at the calibre of people you will meet. We’ll keep you posted with articles about what we have learnt from this great show and will be incorporating some of the ideas within some of our tutorials and webinar topics for the year.
