The Special Event Show

special-events-show-logoI love this time of the year as we are start to wrap up one year and move into the next. So much to celebrate and so much to look forward to. It has certainly been an exciting year for the Academy with the launch of our UK & US offices and so much more besides. But one of the things I love about the start of a new year is all the trade shows, conferences and exhibitions that are going on all over the world for the special event industry. In nearly every other continent it is winter and everyone is bracing themselves for the cold months ahead, unlike us here in Melbourne who are are getting ready for yet more sweltering temperatures.

If you really want to start the year off with a bang and you call yourself a die hard events professional, there is no better way to start off your year than by visiting the Special Events Show. This year the show is being held in New Orleans between the 12th – 15th of January. This is where the ‘Who’s Who’ of the industry get together every year in fantastic style. You can take part in the trade show which includes stunning displays of Table Top Designs not to mention hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the trends for 2010. On top of this there is the Educational Sessions which features many workshops that cover the following areas:

  • Design
  • Events Management
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Wedding Trends
  • Event Tools and Resources
  • Business and Professional Development
  • Food Services and More

And as if this wasn’t enough you have the opportunity to attend the Wedding Lunch and the Designer Wedding Gallery. It is sponsored by some of the biggest names in the industry and if there was only one business trip you could put in your working calendar this year it should be The Special Event Show.

I know I have said it before but I’m going to say it again, your education in this industry never stops. If you can’t attend a show like this because of the geographical obstacles of being located in Australia, then make sure you sign up to the newsletter and read the Special Events Magazine. It will without doubt help you on your journey to become a Special Events Professional.
