Paperless Post for your next event

October 15, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

I am a bit of an old fashioned girl in some ways and when it comes to correspondence, whilst I love the convenience of email, I think there is nothing nicer than receiving a beautiful invitation in the mail.  I love the feel of an envelope made of heavy card-stock and the textures and colours of paper invitations.  There is something lovely about finding one of these in the post box and opening it to discover what exciting event you have been invited to.  As regular readers of this blog will know, I also have an appreciation for design and this is certainly something else I admire about invitations; the range of designs, colours and textures used.
However I am also an environmentally aware kinda girl and one who knows that in these economic times the cost of such invites is very prohibitive.  For these reasons I can appreciate the email invite, but until now I have not seen one which I find the least bit aesthetically appealing.
This week one of my favourite blog sites, Design Glut  featured an article on Paperless Post, created by brother and sister duo, James and Alexa Hirschfeld.  Paperless Post offers its customers that little bit more when it comes to the ‘email invite’.  The idea behind it was the desire to create an online invite option that had meaning and reflected the sender’s style.  I think they have done an excellent job (the invites even feature an envelope!) and whilst I am still a fan of the paper version, I think that this is a great alternative.
