The call of the Big City

The big city has always held alot of charm for me and always makes me feel a certain way. I know for some people they hate the sights and sounds of the city but I can’t say that I am the same. Whenever I drive into a big city I am gripped with the same feeling of excitement every time. It draws me in and grabs me in a way that nowhere else does.
I recently went to London on business for the day and it has been a long time since I went, around 4 years I think, so I was very excited to be going. The sounds, the smells, the sights and the people. It inspires me like nowhere else. If ever I have a creative block or need inspiration then for me the city is the best place to go. I think it is something about the hustle and bustle. Everyone has a purpose and is on their own personal mission. Just being around them makes me feel like I have a purpose and a reason to be in business.
Why I am sharing this with you? Well I have always believed that everyone has their own place they go to in order to feed their creative side and to motivate themselves. It isn’t possible to be motivated every day and we all need a little help sometimes. This isn’t a bad thing at all, it’s perfectly normal. The problem is that alot of us forget about our inspirational places and try to soldier on without them. Don’t do this. It’s okay to take some time out and go to the places that inspire and motivate you because it will do more for you than just sitting at your desk staring out the window whilst desperately trying to pull some creative thoughts from somewhere.
Get out there. Go to the places that inspire you and revel in them. I’m not suggesting you bunk off and do this every day, but once in a while you need to take the time to do this. It’s invigorating, even in the snow and cold weather my trip to London really inspired me and I was full of ideas and grinning from ear to ear on the way home.
