Divorce Party – the latest trend in post weddings

I guess we really will use any excuse to party and eat more cake. One of the latest trends to rear it’s ugly head is the Divorce Party and as wedding & event planners we need to be aware of any new trend that hits our industry – and a divorce is after all an event.

The trend itself first took off in the US with women wanting to celebrate the fact that they were about to take the first step on a brand new journey in their life. It has now taken off in the UK as well with the likes of Jordan,a.k.a. Katie Price, throwing a lavish divorce party upon her separation from Peter Andre. For some women it is a chance to have an amazing divorce celebration as their wedding reception wasn’t the wedding day they’d always dreamed of. For others it is simply a way to get some closure. But whatever the reason for throwing a divorce party it is I think a trend that is here to stay.

The question we need to ask ourselves as planners is will a divorce party be something we add to our list of events we organise? Could this be a niche market area to specialise in? The answer – go and research the trend, find out everything you can about it and then make an informed decision.
