Event Styling – is it really a career?

This is a question that is often asked. It sounds great and I would love to spend my day styling events but can I really make a living from it? Well the answer to that question is a resounding YES. I know that traditionally these types of roles have been seen as frivoulous, and only really for those self-important people you see in the movies who sweep around in a very camp fashion. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Only recently a position was advertised on their website for an Event Stylist. Atlantic Group [v]‘s four event venues in Shed 14 at Central Pier, Docklands (Peninsula, Atlantic, Sumac and Sketch) are side by side in an absolute waterfront location, all with individual styles and of variety of size (catering from 20 – 2500 guests). Adjacent Shed 9 houses an eclectic mix of hospitality tenancies from uber cool cocktail bar and nightclub Alumbra, Va Bene pizzeria e cucina to soon to be open pub and eatery The Woolshed.

In the job description they mention it would be desirable if the candidate had experience in either a floristry environment or interior design.
