Here at Event Experts we are always on the look-out for tools that help you to run your business more professionally and efficiently and this week we have found another software product that can be used by Event Professionals.
ManagEvent is an office and project management solution designed with the Event industry in mind. CEO Chris Lamb ran his own very successful Exhibit House in Australia and upon selling it he decided to develop a software product that was based on the business systems that had worked for him. For me this is probably its biggest selling point. I take a project management view when I manage events but in the past have had to rely on software that is not designed specifically for our industry or, has been developed by people with no direct industry experience. To be able to use something that has our needs in mind is great.
ManagEvent includes a range of really user friendly features such as:
• Contact, Document and Project Management
• Task Management and Scheduling
• Time and Expenses Billing
• Accounting and Outlook Application Integration
• PDA Synchronisation
• Microsoft/Excel Integration (a full list of features can be found at ManagEvent)
What I also think is an advantage of this software over others is the fact that it can be used as easily by 1 or 2 staff members as it can by up to 250. Furthermore, more than one person can use the system at one time. There is nothing more frustrating when working on a project with a team than not being able to log into your project data because someone else is already working on it. Another excellent feature is that with ManagEvent you have the ability to retain the same software application as your company grows. This could also be particularly handy if you hire contract and freelance staff to work with you on certain projects. Whilst up to 3 users can operate the software without installing a server version of the software, to ensure that all information is backed up by all users and for more than 3 users, a server version of the software is necessary and this is something I would definitely recommend looking at.
But the big question for most of us in small business is what is it going to cost me? To buy the software outright you will need to invest $1000 per user for up to 3 users. For 4 or more users you will also need to purchase a server license at $1000. For volume users contact ManagEvent for a quote. You will also need to budget on $300 per year for upgrade and maintenance costs. (all figures are in AUD and ex GST).
