Venue Review – Flames of the Forest

February 2, 2010 by · 3 Comments

flamesThis week we are starting a new weekly ‘venue review’ column to help you with your venue searching.  This series will also give you a head-start on adding venues to your book of ‘preferred suppliers’.  We are on the ‘look-out’ for innovative venues that are doing things a little differently, so if you know of a venue that meets this criteria, let us know and we will add them to the list.  We would also like to hear from you if you have any feedback on the venues we review.

First up is Flames of the Forest, situated just 10 minutes from Port Douglas and 50 minutes from Cairns, Qld.  Named number 34 in the Australian Traveller Magazine’s, ‘100 GREAT THINGS TO DO’ in Australia guide (by Catriona Rowntree – Getaway), Flames of the Forest caters to Corporate groups, private parties and Weddings.  Specialising in tailor made event theming, entertainment and menu design (by award winning caterers and featuring local produce), Flames of the Forest strives to offer guests an ‘intimate natural feast for the senses’ and is well known for its high level of customer service.

Flames of the Forest is a magical venue which really comes to life at night.  The Flames of the Forest marquee is clear roofed so that guests can enjoy the comfort of a marquee and the beauty of a starry night simultaneously.  Imagine the magic of a venue set up in the middle of the rainforest, under a canopy of stars, the tables set with flickering candlelight and soft music playing in the background, in tune with all the sounds of the forest; the perfect venue for a gala event or a wedding.  Entertainment can include an authentic cultural performance performed by the traditional owners of this land and passed down by the ancestors who have lived in this special place for generations.

This venue is perfect for large groups, catering to up to 300 for seated dining, 500 for Cocktail Functions and 500 for Conferences.  Flames also offers transfers from Port Douglas, Palm Cove and Cairns and they can bring the Flames of the Forest experience to a number of locations in Cairns if you are looking for a venue there.

What I really like about Flames of the Forest is the attention to detail and focus on guest comfort;  from the luxury bathrooms to the after dinner lounge areas, to the fire trails which light your way, to the spectacular forest lighting and decor, this venue has taken outdoor dining concept to a new level of uniqueness.

“…It is truly food for your soul, satisfaction for all senses… an unforgettable memory at an extraordinary venue.” Catriona Rowntree

Flames of the Forest advise that some information advised to Event Experts was incorrect. Please note tht the Flames of the Forest marquee does not have a clear roof and instead features a black silk lined hoecker with handmade crystal and bud light chandeliers. The venue hosts up to 950 for a sit-down dinner and up to 2000 for cocktail style functions.

  3. I have been to your site half a dozen times now, and this time I am adding it to my bookmarks :) Your discussions are always relevant, unlike the same-old stuff on other sites (which are coming off my bookmarks!) Two thumbs up!
